There is so much to love about Blues - Various Artists, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This album has some very good songs like Telephone Blues and Custard Pie Blues. Now signed to Blues - Various Artists’s SixSteps records, the title track from second album “01-whoopin The Blues - The Capiltal Recordings 1947-50″ leads Blues - Various Artists’s back-to-school campaign. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
I loved Custard Pie Blues the first time I heard it. Riff and Harmonica Jump good vocals. First time I heard Mad Man Blues was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing. All Alone Blues is just simply stunning. Dirty Mistreater, Don’t You Know is the song that really did it for me. Lyrics of Early Morning Blues are precise and evocative. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Music in Beer Garden Blues is excellent as in all tracks of 01-whoopin The Blues - The Capiltal Recordings 1947-50. Blues - Various Artists is one of artists that allow his songs like Screamin’ and Cryin’ Blues to stand on their own and be heard. Crow Jane Blues is nothing but pure genius. Worried Man Blues has a fun tempo. Airplane Blues - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Simple and heartfelt closing track Hot Headed Woman closes 01-whoopin The Blues - The Capiltal Recordings 1947-50 on a high note. I like Harmonica Rag because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Leavin’ Blues - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love.
