X (Ten) isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Blue System on ‘Dr. Mabuse’. ‘X (Ten)’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. If I may, I suggest “Dr. Mabuse”. That one song is amazing!
After you’ve listened to If There’s A God On Heaven, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. How Will I Know? which is my favorite is a truly Blue System sounding song. I love the melodic melody of Goodnight Marielin and to this day it makes me feel good. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Don’t Knock Me Out, which shows, blatantly, how much Blue System has evolved as a singer. You’ll Be My Hero is a exquisite, simple song by Blue System at the top of his game. I’ve found myself listening to Does Your Mother Really Know? back to back and back many times. Voice and instruments in When You Are Lonely complement each other. The Earth Will Move is one of the coolest songs Blue System has ever recorded. Don’t Stop To Dance is a medium tempo tune. Crying Game is the albums biggest surprise.
