Stanley Donwood has compared writing for Birmingham 6’s new album to that on ‘Contagious [Ep]’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Lead single “Contagious (Virus)” and “Who Do You Love” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Birmingham 6 on ‘Contagious (Virus)’. Birmingham 6 is one of my favourite bands of all time.
I’ve found myself listening to Who Do You Love back to back and back many times. Best song on the album, love it. Mindhallucination Ii sets the tone for the entire album. Only one song from Contagious [Ep] named Dance 17 really got me. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin.
