It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Billy Boy Arnold energies, virtually a rebirth. Ten Million Dollars isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Since completing 1995’s ‘Going Home’, Billy Boy Arnold fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Ten Million Dollars.
I Done Got Over It actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Billy Boy Arnold’s face. I Wish You Would is probably the highlight of the album. Just a Little bit - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. One listen to the sheer beauty of Last Night was all I needed. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. No Billy Boy Arnold song has come close to capturing my attention as Sugar Momma did. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Trust My Baby is a strong cut, one of many. Within the first few notes of Yellow Roses From Texas (Just Love Won’t Do) it’s perfectly clear that Billy Boy Arnold is living this song.
