Collection is an amazing album, racked with beauty.fifteen years ago, Bert Jansch briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Angie/Work Song (Medley)”. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Bert Jansch’s album Collection falls to No. 2 with 259,000, a sales slide of 59%. Overall, I would highly recommend Collection CD.
Angie/Work Song (Medley) is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Rambling’s Going To Be The Death Of Me is a bit different from Bert Jansch stereotypical stuff. Running From Home is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. I hope to keep hearing Bert Jansch works for a long time to come. Needle Of Death marked the continuation of Bert Jansch in style evolution. Musically The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face is superior to other tracks in Collection. So Long (Been On The Road So Long) is another favourite of mine. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Rabbit Run is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Collection. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Bert Jansch. A Little Sweet Sunshine - This one is lively and fun. I have all of Bert Jansch’s tracks and The Gardener is probably the most his introspective effort. Springtime Promises gives taste of what makes Bert Jansch special as a musician. I like the idea behind Go Your Way My Love. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Poison is the funkiest number on the album. Miss Heather Rosemary Sewell is one of the coolest songs Bert Jansch has ever recorded. Voice of Bert Jansch in When I Get Home is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Bert Jansch is one of artists that allow his songs like Rosemary Lane to stand on their own and be heard. Peregrinations - This is a very lively song. I came to like Tell Me What Is True Love. If you are a Bert Jansch fan, you will love Nobody’s Bar. The sound in A Woman Like You (Live) is really warm and Bert Jansch’s signature voice is still very much present. Life Depends On Love - arguably the best track on Collection album. When I listen to Bird Song in my car when traffic ain’t going so good.
