one years ago, Ben Folds Five briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Kate (Live)”. While no new Ben Folds Five album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1995 tour in Europe. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Ben Folds Five’s album Ben Folds (Five) - Live falls to No. 2 with 164,000, a sales slide of 80%. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
I like to sing along with Kate (Live), though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Battle Of Who Could Care Less (Live) is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. No Ben Folds Five song has come close to capturing my attention as Brick (Live) did. Emaline (Live) stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. One Angry Dwarf And 200 Solemn Faces (Live) is simple, dignified and effective, Ben Folds Five refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Blew our minds when we first heard Philosophy (Live). A unique and uplifting song. Steven’s Last Night In Town (Live) is a gorgeous, simple song by Ben Folds Five at the top of his game. Music of The Last Polka (Live) is gentle, never overbearing. Theme From Dr. Pyser (Live) marked the continuation of Ben Folds Five in style evolution. Smoke (Live) is a song to enjoy for years to come. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think She Don’t Use Jelly (Live) is my favorite song on Ben Folds (Five) - Live. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create.
