It’s natural for Beausoleil to take a stab at ‘Zydeco Gris Gris’ considering her long-professed love for B.B. King. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Beausoleil’s album Bayou Boogie falls to No. 2 with 677,000, a sales slide of 50%. Beausoleil was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Beausoleil and Bayou Boogie together. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Bayou Boogie.
I now have Fais Pas Ca as one of my personal favorites. It’s You I Love one of the best in my collection. Some call Dimanche Apres-Midi from Bayou Boogie as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Kolinda is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Maman Rosin Boudreaux is a striking and quite long song. Chez Seychelles is a bit of a show-tune. Jongle A Moi was the first single release from the album Bayou Boogie. The Flame Will Never Die makes a person feel exquisite. The song feels complete. Beausoleil Boogie is simple, dignified and effective, Beausoleil refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more.
