Ivan Grach has compared writing for Babes In Toyland’s new album to that on ‘Playtime’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. I am not a real Rock: Punk-Rock music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Playtime’ really is amazing. This is the first studio album from Babes In Toyland since bad diagnosis in 1993. This is my first Babes In Toyland Album and i must say i am blown away.
This track is a great song that still never gets old. I can’t stop humming along Blood. Strong, powerful vocals of Babes In Toyland in Jungle Train are very impressive. Right Now has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Magik Flute - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. After about the third Ripe listen through, I began to believe this song is Babes In Toyland’s essence. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Playtime. Sometimes is probably one of Babes In Toyland’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Pearl is a gorgeous song and it grows on you. Mother - A classic Babes In Toyland track. Swamp Pussy is one of my favorite songs by Babes In Toyland. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Listening to Pearl you can hear that Babes In Toyland has still amazing chemistry with band members. Blue Bell is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. The first time I listened to Spin I was struck by its amazing sound. Mother have really caught my ear and imagination. Right Now marked the continuation of Babes In Toyland in style evolution. I listened to the opening track Blood and liked it a lot. Bruise is beautiful, yet underrated track. Magik Flute - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Wont Tell is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Handsome And Gretel presents the exquisite mix of instruments on Playtime. This track is full of harmonies and gets Playtime off to a relaxing start. Real Eyes is a very catchy tune. Catatonic rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo.
