After seeing Prophetia, I had to have a good Ataraxia cd. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Ataraxia on ‘Prophetia’. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Ataraxia’s album Ad Perpetuam Rei Memoriam falls to No. 2 with 697,000, a sales slide of 83%. This is what good Classical: Neo-Classical should be.
Ad Perpetuam Rei Memoriam couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Anno Domini Mdlvi. Aigues Mortes - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Tu Es La Force Du Silence is one of the coolest songs Ataraxia has ever recorded. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Flee Et Fabian is my favorite song on Ad Perpetuam Rei Memoriam. Some of the arrangements found on Ad Perpetuam Rei Memoriam are surprisingly edgy. This song stands out greatly from the others. Torquemada sets the tone for the entire album. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Ataraxia. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. The sound in Emeraude is really warm and Ataraxia’s signature voice is still very much present.
