This is the first studio album from Ataide and Alexandre since bad diagnosis in 1995. I am not a real Latin music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Popularidade’ really is amazing. This disc has all of the essential Ataide and Alexandre classics. Enjoy the show.
There is exquisite mix of music in As avenidas. Basta voci voltar on Popularidade is solid and easy to listen to. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. De mo beijada catches attention immediately, I hope to keep hearing Ataide and Alexandre works for a long time to come. In Luzes da Ribalta it becomes nowhere more obvious that Ataide and Alexandre has yet to define own style. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Ataide and Alexandre. No consigo te train - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Lyrics of O seu retrato are precise and evocative. Such hits like Toxi will leave you hooked. When listening to Voci marcou pra mim, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable.
