Garota de Ipanema (The Girl from Ipanema) is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. No Astrud Gilberto song has come close to capturing my attention as Once Upon a Summertime did. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. A Certain Sadness is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Frevo is one of the best records ever. Lyrics of Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars) are precise and evocative. Dindi is the excellent blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Chovendra na Roseiro (Look to the Rainbow) motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. After about the third Day by Day listen through, I began to believe this song is Astrud Gilberto’s essence. The Shadow of Your Smile is simply perfect. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. In The Gentle Rain Astrud Gilberto spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Tristeza (Goodbye Sadness) great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.The sound in Berimbau is really warm and Astrud Gilberto’s signature voice is still very much present.
