After seeing Beaton’s Delight, I had to have a good Ashley MacIsaac cd. This thirteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Ashley MacIsaac has. It has been eleven years Ashley MacIsaac’ last studio CD, “Hi How Are You Today?” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. I Love Hi How Are You Today? from start to finish!
Sleepy Maggie is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Rusty D-Con-Struck-Tion is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Macdougall’s Pride is almost impossible to review. In Spoonboy you won’t find any flashy solos. What An Idiot He Is to me is the best you can get from Ashley MacIsaac. Some of the arrangements found on Hi How Are You Today? are surprisingly edgy. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Ashley MacIsaac. Wing-Stock very upbeat. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. Brenda Stubbert is astounding.
