nine years ago, Anuna briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “The First Day (Mary’s Breast.)”. This is the first studio album from Anuna since bad diagnosis in 1993. Since Anuna last CD (Celtic Heartbeat) on Columbia Records back in 1993, I have felt a massive void in my life. This album is in perfect progression from Anuna!
The First Day (Mary’s Breast.) is simple, dignified and effective, Anuna refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Strong, powerful vocals of Anuna in Invocation are very impressive. The Raid (2:50) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! The song Sanctus ending is my favorite… so catchy! I believe Pater Noster is one of the most amazing, heartfelt songs ever written. Listening to Faigh An Gleas you can hear that Anuna has still amazing chemistry with band members. Suantrai is the albums biggest surprise. Bean Phaidin / An Poc Ar Buile - To me, this is the best song on the Celtic Heartbeat. Cormacus Scripsit (3:25) a good melody. Silent, O Moyle is one of the best records ever. Jerusalem good vocals. Fionnghuala catches attention immediately, Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Celtic Heartbeat is Crist and St. Marie. The Blue Bird - Check out that bassline! Si Do Mhaimeo I is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite.
