Lead single “Voyager” and “Cathedral” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. On the Greece charts, superstar Andy Pickford’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. There is so much to love about Andy Pickford, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. To me Andy Pickford is the best band ever.
Simple and heartfelt closing track Cathedral closes Maelstrom on a high note. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Maelstrom. I can’t stop humming along Tetsuo. Symbiosis gets you up and jumping. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Maelstrom is Raumfdhre. Voice of Andy Pickford in Oblivion is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Hellsgate is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever.
