Albert Lee had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Since completing 1995’s ‘That’s Alright Mama’, Albert Lee fulfilled their contract with SixSteps records and where under no obligation to release another album. On the India charts, superstar Albert Lee’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. I Love Black Claw and Country Fever from start to finish!
What A Stupid Thing To Do is such a amazing and optimistic song that things can get just better. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Best I Can. Send Me Back To The Mines - A classic Albert Lee track. The song feels complete. Another Useless Day is outstanding work of Albert Lee. Six Days On The Road - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Albert Lee. Good Times has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. St. Louis is one of these floating songs. Brother Preacher have really caught my ear and imagination. Country In Harlem still maintains something of a specific flourish. It’s such an underrated song. Tears Of Range - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Mama Come Get Your Baby Boy stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Song Memphis Street is actually a funny song. Voice and instruments in Long Gone complement each other. Too Much Of Nothing gets you up and jumping. Rocky Top - Okay, I just talked about depth. I listened to the opening track Tonight I’ll Be Staying Here and liked it a lot. Mama Tried gives taste of what makes Albert Lee special as a musician. Lay Lady Lay the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. I loved The Fool (With No Strings) the first time I heard it.
