It’s natural for 7 Seconds to take a stab at ‘Ghost’ considering her long-professed love for Gridlok. There is so much to love about 7 Seconds, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of 7 Seconds energies, virtually a rebirth. The Music, The Message touched my soul like nothing else.
Put Such Such into car stereo for your highway driving The Music, The Message couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track The Music, The Message. Get The Music, The Message and turn on Kinda Future if you are going to sip your wine late at night. 7 Seconds has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on The Music, The Message. One listen to the sheer beauty of Get A Different Life was all I needed. I’ve found myself listening to Talkbox back to back and back many times. My List is one of the best records ever. First Ya Told Us is simple, dignified and effective, 7 Seconds refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Born Without A Mind the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Punk Rock Teeth is perfect song though, very addictive. This track is full of harmonies and gets The Music, The Message off to a relaxing start. Within the first few notes of I Can Remember it’s perfectly clear that 7 Seconds is living this song. Music of Even Better Plan is gentle, never overbearing. The Kids Are United is the album’s biggest hit, I think.
